Simple Way to Prepare Perfect Sweet and Sour Chicken

Ingredients and spices that need to be Take to make Sweet and Sour Chicken:
- For the chicken:
- 500 ml vegetable oil for frying the chicken
- 250 gr boneless chicken thigh meat, diced 3x3 cm
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
- For the batter:
- 4 Tbsp all purpose flour
- 60 ml ice water
- For the coating:
- 4 Tbsp all purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp rice flour
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
- For the sauce: (mix together in a small bowl)
- 3 Tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1/4 tsp white pepper powder
- Other ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 onion, diced
- 1/2 red chili pepper, diagonally cut
- 1/2 cucumber, cut out the seeds, diagonally cut
- 150 gr pineapple, sliced
- 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 50 ml water
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 3 Tbsp water
- 1 stalk green onion, diagonally cut
Instructions to make Sweet and Sour Chicken
- Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Set aside for 15 minutes.
- Dip the chicken into the batter ingredients. Coat evenly with flour mixture. Shake the excess flour off.
- Deep fry the chicken until crispy and golden brown. Remove from the pan. Set aside.
- For the sauce:
Heat the vegetable oil in a wok over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onion, until fragrant. - Add sauce ingredients and white pepper powder. Pour water. Mix well. Bring it to boil.
- Add red bell pepper, cucumber, and pineapple. Mix well.
- Add rice vinegar. Add the cornstarch mixture and continue to cook until thickened. Test the taste.
- Add green onion and mix well again.
- Toss in the chicken and do a few quick stirs.
- Serve immediately with warm steamed rice. Yum! 😋
